Options abound with such spectacular coastal scenery, unique historic sights and the acclaimed Eden Project to name a few. Nearby Truro offers all the delights of a compact and welcoming city, with its cathedral, theatre and array of tempting restaurants.

Beaches
Cornwall's south coast is more Mediterranean than its North Coast sister, benefiting from the warmer and calmer waters of the Gulf Stream. There are numerous hidden coves such as Portmellon. Carne is a long stretch of golden sand a little further down the Roseland coast. Charlestown has its own beach and Carlyon Bay is just up the road. Porthluney (Caerhays) is nearby to Mevagissey and has ample parking and live music in the summer months.

Eating Out
Eating out in Cornwall can be a culinary delight. Whether you're looking for a beach cafe for an alfresco lunch or a fine dining experience, there is much to choose from. In and around Mevagissey, we have The Sharksfin on the harbour front and the atmospheric Fountain Inn tucked away behind the harbour. For true seaside dining, the renowned Hidden Hut isn’t far away, as is Sam’s on the Beach at Polkerris.

Gardens
Enjoying the warmth of the Gulf Stream, the magical gardens in Cornwall are home to a wealth of exciting, unique and beautiful plants and trees. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are within sight of Mevagissey's harbour and this famous garden restoration, after decades of neglect, now brims with colourful life. The National Trust’s Trelissick is set in over 300 acres of beautiful gardens and woodland with lovely walks and stunning views. Caerhays, open only for the spring is filled with magnolias. We also have the lovely Trewithen , Lanhydrock and Pinetum nearby.

Activities
Cornwall offers a vast array of activities to be enjoyed in every season. From beer tasting to climbing medieval castle steps, there is something for everyone. The world famous Eden Project is just a few miles away. For local China Clay history and industry Wheal Martyn is well worth a visit. St Austell Brewery run brewery tours if you fancy a taste of the local beers.

Local Events
Cornwall prides itself in celebrating community life. There are many local regattas, festivals and agricultural shows which give a good day out. Mevagissey Feast Week showcases the village, culminating with a spetacular firework display from the harbour wall; Marine Point provides a front row seat. The excellent Charlestown Regatta runs each year, as well as the Portmellon Regatta with live music and water-based activities. For a more literary experience, then head to Fowey for the Du Maurier Literary Festival.

These locations offer the opportunity to explore right from the front door of any of our properties whether you’re a keen hiker, or just wanting to get a taste of the local area, it’s a fantastic way to explore.
